Focus to human/handler

Focus too human in dynamic environments.

In dog training we acquire behaviours in calm quiet environments, once the dog/pup has had a chance to drain some energy and eliminate we can start the acquisition of behaviours.

Once behaviours are acquired we then move to different locations and repeat the process of acquiring the same behaviours.

This is to transition and generalise obedience to the world around us.

Habituation to environments.

Dogs are driven by survival instincts.

So new environments present challenges.

We need to accustom and familiarise dogs to every different picture where possible.

Set your dog up around your lifestyle.

Examples -

Parks

Restaurants

Coffee shops

Public transport

The more you can gradually expose your dog to, the more confidence your dog will have.

Generalisation of behaviours.

In terms of behaviours, your dog needs to feel comfortable in different environments in order to be able to focus on your training and communication.
